Many franchisees buying in to the Jim's Group will be getting their hands on an iPad to enable them to better manage their own businesses.

The move to adopt iPads for business has been driven by Jim's Antenna's divisional franchisor, Andrew Parke. Parke told Franchising "Originally it was just for Jim's Antenna's franchisees but now other divisions have seen the value in it and deployed it as well."

Building the software began last August and was completed in the last couple of months.

The iPad apps will allow franchisees to conduct back office admin while on the go, so their after-hours time is free. Says Jim's Group CEO, Richard Reid, "If you're selling on lifestyle, you have to make sure there's a lifestyle to come home to."

Franchisees will be able to receive call centre leads, schedule appointments, create and email quotes and invoices, use the signature pad for payment and take photographic records of their work for portfolios. There will be a compliance checklist, and a library of information and images for franchisees to access in addition to the social media channels that will help them build brand awareness and to access training.

"We know by doing a quick five minute click people can watch it conveniently in between jobs, when people see a notification it's very easy to click on a video. We use it for training and product updates," said Parke.

The process also allows the monitoring of jobs and profit targets to better direct time and effort.
