Specialty coffee franchise group, Zarraffa’s Coffee, has agreed to support the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary in Queensland, donating funds and coffee to help maintain its hospital operations and finance the caretaking facilities of some of Australia’s wild animals.  

Zarraffa’s Coffee CEO Kenton Campbell said “Our corporate responsibility policy revolves primarily around our ‘backyard’ and we are also supporters of conservation across the board. When we were approached by Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, we asked ourselves, ‘what could be more appropriate than lending a hand to a major employer, tourism icon and beacon of conservation?’

Established in 1947 the Sanctuary is today a not-for-profit organisation operated by the National Trust of Queensland and all revenue generated by the Park is reinvested back into conservation-based research, caring for sick and injured wildlife, and public education.

The Sanctuary has already received more than $26,500 in coffee product and machinery, to implement the Zarraffa’s Coffee ‘Now Pouring Program’ in three kiosks within the Sanctuary.

Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary CEO Jonathan Fisher said “The donation of coffee enables the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary to create ongoing revenue to fund its operation including the important work undertaken by Currumbin Wildlife Hospital.  

“The wildlife hospital costs the Sanctuary over $600,000 every year to run and we applaud the initiative taken by Zarraffa’s.”  

Zarraffa’s Coffee will also work use its stores to support the Sanctuary promotionally to both raise funds and awareness.  

“Throughout the month of November each of the 49 Zarraffa’s Coffee stores across the state will have donation boxes. All monies raised will go directly to the Currumbin Wildlife Hospital Foundation and we hope to generate additional interest in the work Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary does to save Australia’s native wildlife."
