The Zarraffa's Worongary franchise has even more reason to celebrate its first birthday, selling 219,000 coffees in 2009, indicating that the drive-thru style of serving coffee is a successful one.

"We are pleased our transition to the company's first drive-thru site was rewarded with strong patronage but it was also a blend of the right team and location combined with careful planning and research that has delivered such great financial results," said CEO Kenton Campbell.

The Worongary franchise experienced in-store growth of 55 per cent over 2009, capitalising on a time-poor drive market with its drive-thru service. This operation was replicated in the middle of 2009 with another drive-thru site in Toowoomba.

"Toowoomba has also blown our expectations out of the water," Campbell said. "Not only is it the second drive-thru site for the company but it was the first for the Toowoomba region and we have been whole heartedly embraced in the Darling Downs."

The company has plans for another two additional drive-thru sites in Queensland over the next two years, to complement the 40 existing stores.

"Drive-thru sites give us larger scope to get our coffee to more people in a highly convenient way so we will continually look for locations where we can marry the right franchisee with our operation to build growth now and in the future," Campbell said.
