Specialty coffee chain Zarraffa’s Coffee has celebrated a bumper year at the company’s national franchise conference at the Sheraton Noosa Resort and Spa, and awarded top performance at the gala dinner.

Bruce Fullerton and Elissa Hutton, Upper Coomera franchisees, took out the main award, Franchisee of the Year.

CEO Kenton Campbell said the Upper Coomera store, that also boasts the 2011 Zarraffa’s Barista of the Year gong, is led by two dynamic and hard working franchisees who epitomise the company’s brand of business.

“Bruce and Elissa deserve the recognition of being our Franchisee of the Year”, said Campbell. “Since opening in 2007 they have consistently performed and exceeded company standards.

“Starting with their 2008 win of the Rookie of the Year Award, to their first win of the Franchisee of the Year Award in 2009, their success is testament to their strong business partnership and work ethic”, he said. “The store has also had staff members win the Zarraffa’s Barista of the Year title three times in a row and later this year are opening their second store.”

Speaking about the win, franchisee’s Bruce Fullerton and Elissa Hutton said a key part of their store success was that both of them were proud to go to work every day and work with an amazing group of staff.

The win was based on key criteria including, quarterly store evaluations, local area marketing, business acumen, a store visit from Zarraffa’s Coffee management and a final written submission on four key questions.

The awards went to:

  • Franchisee of the Year: Bruce Fullerton and Elissa Hutton, Upper Coomera
  • Rookie of the Year: Bill and Claire Zavos, Hope Island
  • Store of the Year: Brendon Lord and Judy Lord, Redcliffe
  • Barista of the Year: Upper Coomera
