Ferguson Plarre plans to double its network of stores over the next five years and is calling on new franchisees to join the bakery franchise's team.

"To date, our growth has been slow and steady, with 53 stores across Victoria. We are now looking for motivated and enthusiastic people to join our business as it grows," Chris Ferguson, retail manager, Ferguson Plarre, said.

"While we have a strong footprint in Melbourne’s west and north, we see huge growth potential in the south-east and east of Victoria – that's where we’ll be focusing our efforts," he said.

Before opening new stores, Ferguson Plarre Bakehouses conducts thorough location analyses taking into account many aspects including available customer counts, car parking, local demographics and future growth.

"Owning your own small business is incredibly rewarding but it’s also hard work. Our franchisees enjoy the benefit of having a head office at hand to support them and guide them as they start out on their own business journey," Ferguson said.

There are also opportunities for potential franchisees wanting to expand their portfolio via multi-unit franchising, he added.

The business is looking for franchisees that have the following attributes:

  • Strong work ethic
  • Passion and pride in their work
  • Good management and communication skills
  • Willingness to comply with Ferguson Plarre practice and procedures
  • A passion for customer service
