Franchise brand Pizza Capers is hoping to conquer the South East Asia market after announcing it will open the first Australian-based pizza store in Singapore.
The Singapore store, which is currently under construction and scheduled to be opened at the end of the month, will be Queensland-based Pizza Capers’ first overseas store and operated by expatriate businessman Paul McNamara.
Pizza Capers co-founder Scott Geiszler said the company planned to open more stores in South East Asia in the future and Singapore was the ideal launching pad for its overseas expansion.
“We’re passionate about pizza and we know that there is strong demand for high quality pizzas in Singapore at a reasonable price,” Geiszler said. “Consumers in South East Asia are just as time-pressed as those in Australia – everyone is looking for a delicious, healthy meal that is quick and convenient.
“Singapore is also a melting pot of cultures and the locals are used to eating a diverse range of food. There is a fascination with Western brands and culture, which is also in our favour.”
In 2009, Pizza Capers increased staff numbers by 200 and grew revenue from $14.5 million in 2007-08 to $38 million in 2008-09, an increase of 137.65 percent.
“Demand is so strong that our business is expanding aggressively by at least four stores a month,” Geiszler said.
Today, Pizza Capers has more than 75 stores throughout Brisbane, Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, Melbourne, Adelaide, New South Wales and regional Queensland.
