Two company-owned Angus & Robertson bookstores in Queensland have been sold and the remaining 16 will close by the end of July, but franchisees will not be affected, the administrator has announced.

Since its umbrella company REDgroup Retail went into administration earlier this year, Angus & Robertson franchisees have been unsure of their future, and while the 47 franchise stores will continue to operate independently, the administrator, Ferrier Hodgson has announced it is likely they will undergo various name changes in coming weeks.

The two sold company-owned stores are located in Queensland's Harbourtown and Carindale and will operate under different owners and names.

The development comes three weeks after the announced of the closure of 42 Angus & Robertson stores and one day after the announcement of the successful sale of the REDgroup online business.
